*March 18- LEAP Test- Phase 1 (Constructed/ written response)
*April 7-10- LEAP Test- Phase 2 (Multiple choice)
*April 18-25- Spring/Easter break holiday- No School

* Please utilize the website www.everydaymathonline.com. We now have a new and updated version and it is a great resource to both parents and the students to supplement my lessons in the classroom. The children know their usernames/passwords so please visit this site often. This new version has an interactive student reference book (our "text"), study links, algorithm help, and " FACT DASH" for multiplication practice games( to a timer), etc.

I found this GREAT website on Shenandoah Learning Links :) ...."Mr.Nussbaum." I especially like the "Printables" tab at the top where you can find math printables and activities that are all Common Core aligned to 4th gr. standards I am teaching. There is also a great reading comprehension section of non-fiction passages with multiple choice questions SS or Science content..fantastic!! :) There is also Science and Social Studies activities. Just select "4th grade" before you begin!
Current Unit of Study: place value of decimals through the thousandths place, read-write-order-compare decimals, add and subtract decimals, round decimals, relate decimals to metric measurements, and give equivalent fractions and mixed numbers for decimals.

E.M. Journal 2 - Unit 7 "Fractions" ( mastery of ALL multiplication facts by this time is of utmost importance for understanding and success in 4th gr material to be covered!)
EnGage NY worksheets- multiply up to 4 digits by a 1 and 2 digit number, area and perimeter, solve multistep word problems using the 4 operations, decimal place value through thousandths, write and read large numbers up to 12 digits, division by one and 2 digit divisors ( partial quotients and traditional methods)
Students continue to practice for"Dirty Dozen" tests(now given periodically), as well as timed drills for multiplication facts, and regular "practice" timed facts tests with occasional graded ones. ( currently 1 minute!!- 4th 9 weeks)
Students will also be utilizing specific web sites for Math Log nightly requirements, as well as LEAP practice/review tests.

** please ask your children to share with you the many online resource links and videos I have shown them in class. They all have usernames/passwords for Everyday Math Online now, as well as knowing how to access "IXL" ," Louisiana Pass", and "Cyber Challenge" for great facts practice and standardized testing preparation.
Please monitor your child's class/hwk. in their pink Everyday Mathematics Journal 1 (workbook) on a nightly basis. Also monitor pages in their black "Envisions" Common Core practice workbooks. Students may bring home their pink Student Reference Book any time they wish for further information on topics and skills discussed in class, and it may be accessed online.
HOMEWORK: see your child's asgn. pad daily for specific assignments. It's posted in my classroom. ******* Homework this week and next will be worksheets on written responses to prepare for LEAP Test Part 1 March 18 *****
